Default Car show antics

Went to a car show today.. brought my camera and my 18-55m kit lense.. trying to practice displine. Dealing with mid-sun and not having much experiance with car shows, I took quite a few shots.. a really good keeper ratio, except for people and other cars as distractions which really was the challange.

so here's a few ,

starting off with a Chevy which was in a shade/sun .. my dad had one of these and I remember when he got rid of it when I was like 5 yrs old, we all were sad to see it go .. wonder what it would be worth today !!!

IMG_7780

processed clean, a little enhancement to get the chrome to reflect, but I left it alone for the most part. I must have adjusted the tilt on it 4 times, it might be crooked.. I can;t tell anymore lol

This Corvette really caught my eye,,there were alot of them at the show,, but this one just had a look I liked.. I know blurred BG's aren't for everyone, I am working on post editing skills and am practicing different effects.. so even if you don't care for the Blur, I hope ya like the car

the next photo is the first time I've inserted one photo into another, this truck had a model on it's air cleaner which I thought was really cool.. It's a bit advanced for me, but I do like how it came out.

IMG_7849pp

and this one I just took the car out of the original and made a new photo ( just a plain grey background).. another thing I've never done before to any decent result.. I can see I need to be more accurate when i do this, but it was fun to play with and good experiance

So in addition to enjoying a great car show, I also got some great lessons in Photo manipulation and felt like sharing them, rather then just the " good " ones of the day.. so my good friends here can follow my progress in Post editing .

thanks for taking a look, be gentle in your comments please,, I am not known for this type of photography , really just a rookie in training (smile)

This is a very nice set, Vin. I especially like the photo of the Impala. Was that a 64'? Good for you for playing with the whole post process as well. I did not think I would ever be into editing photos in post, but as it turns out i am finding it fun, and challenging at the same time. Good luck with that aspect of photography.

That Chevy is like seeing an old friend. That's really nice. The Corvette, too. What a beauty! Your PP work is nicely done especially in the insert of the minature truck. Your placement on the page is just right and it adds the interest I think you intended. The last photo, with all competing background removed, allows you to really see the car. I'm especially liking that two-tone paint job. Nice work, Vin.

cars are always good....always, and i've enjoyed your post. I'll bet if they'd had a Falcon, you'd have been right at home with it.

Excellent series Vin--they're all sweet--I especially like what you did with the red truck and photo insertion. The vett is very nice too--maybe a little less blur for me but still very nice. I went to a car show last weekend and my favorite vett was about that vintage (1959)--I really like the lines. Thanks for sharing your pics and ideas.

we had a car show just show up in our work parking lot yesterday evening and I was itching to take some pictures but my HR told me that they could not be out there and suggested that I go tell them to get off of the property......yeah right.......I did not run them off but also thought it prudent not to go out and shoot pics either......dang!

Nice job Vin... nice stretch buddy. I really like the corvette. I like how you blurred the background and made the edges soft. Pretty nice...
