Couldn't believe the game I covered last night in Seattle's Memorial Stadium for The Sacramento Bee. Sent them 16 pictures for an online gallery. Classis game.....plenty of behind the line tackles, good runs, touchdowns, fumbles recoveries, jubilation, break ups of pass receptions and an interception...all in one game. The Grant Pacers stuck it to Bellevue Wolverines 14-0. What a kick ass game. Here's a link to the online gallery....

Jim, every now and then I think I'm starting to get it. Then you post something like this and I think, "No so much."
I also like #14 because of the way it captures the players and shows their focus on the ball.

Wow Jim they are all excellent. I agree with the #14 shot but I like 13 too. all of them are top quality sports action shots. Looks like a good nights work and a job very well done.

Thanks guys........I'll write a tutorial about covering football at night. Lighting varies from field to field as so do the refs. Here in my area you can stand right up to the sideline. In Seattle they want you to stand back on the yellow line, which is another five yards from the field. So..........as you might as well guess, as soon as they turn their backs....I move up to the sideline
I had one head umpire actually stop a game, walk over and chew my ass, but I refused to move back. Told him that if I have to move back, so do the coaches, players, sideline workers. It's hard to get shot shooting through them. We had quite the argument going on. But, in the end, he caved in and told me not to step out onto the field and to move when the players get near.

Great job. #14 and #16 are my faves, but all of them are brilliant. From what I've seen, sports photography, especially football, can be quite hard because of so many moving subjects at once. But you are a truly magnificent sport's photographer, and I think we can all learn a thing or two about photography and sports photography from you.
Great set and good action. |

Those are great Jim. It looks like #9 and #10 are duplicates in the gallery. I'm so ready to be outfitted to take great night shots at football.

None of the other refs even came over to support him. The two of us who were standing there eventually just turned around and moved farther down the field. Second half we were right back there, along with about five other still and video guys, and it was magically OK.
