Default Johnny Appleseed Festival

Johnny Appleseed, born John Chapman (September 26, 1774 – February 18, 1845), was an American pioneer nurseryman who introduced apple trees to large parts of Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. He became an American legend while still alive, largely because of his kind and generous ways, his great leadership in conservation, and the symbolic importance of apples.

I took these today at the annual johnny appleseed festival here in fort wayne..Each year hundreds of vendors re-enact scenes from that era and sell their goods, It draws thousands of people over the two day event.

Wonderful shots Lori, I need to get out and find some events like that around here. I particularly enjoyed the 1st and 3rd shots.

Hi Hayward..yes its a very interesting event..i talked to the medicine show dr and he showed me inside his wagon and told me that he takes his show all over the country...the soldiers told me that after walking miles and miles their little tiny tents were more than comfortable...so much to see and very educational for the kids.

If you could only smell the place...kettle corn and all sorts of food...apple pies and onions and stuff cooking and wafting in the air...then the smell of cannon fire as the soldiers shoot across the river...and then theres old Abe Lincoln walking around and of course Johnny Appleseed himself...quite and event and very well organised. I think they enjoyed the aussie asking them questions

Wow, you did an excellent job with the shots and the PP. They look almost authentic.

Nice work, wonderful sepia effects on all. I love the fact that there are not "modern" elements in your photos. It really looks like a step back in the time machine. Bravo!

These kind of shots seem to be your forte. These photos could easily have been taken a hundred years ago. Very well done, Lorraine! It looks like a fun festival.
