Test shots with brand spankin' new lighting

Hey all! Yup, I'm all for instant gratification. Got my brand new lighting today and these are the test shots. Of course I feel NO need for a long time practicing...I'm a "pro", and "pro's" don't NEED practice, especially when it comes to working with something new, right??????? (Feel free to smack me)

LOL.....anyway...these seriously are my test shots; literally they are 4 out of the first 15 I took using studio lighting for the very first time, EVER. Victoria was a gracious model (well, I did have to bribe her). To make matters worse, I've just recently gotten CS2 and am brand new at that, too. I know color balance is WAY off !!!!!!!!!!! And yes, I'm quite aware of the shadow camera left on them.....even though I used a reflector.

So.....these photos are a combo of my first time using studio lights AND CS2. Please feel free to hang me or carry me to the gallows...I don't mind, LOL!

Please....no serious critiques here (it's not the critique forum), if you feel any certain pic needs it, PM me and let me know, and I'll repost it there with EXIF.

Thank you so much.....I have LOTS of other BG's for boys, blue, grey, brown, etc!

I am by no means a pro, but through my eyes, the lighting in #4 is perfect! I also enjoyed the different expressions she had!

Looks like the start of things to come with the new lights Susan and it is always a pleasure to see out gorgeous little mascot in your excellent photographs. You did a great job with these. I too would make the 4th one a favourite but I love them all. Victoria has a lovely smile.. Thanks for sharing them Susan.

Had to come over here and comment on these !! I love her expression in the 2nd one, she just looks happy. Fourth is great with the I'm done pose.

Susan, Congrats on taking the next step on your road to professional photography. No, that's not right...you are there already but you are moving up a rung by adding this new dimension to your repertoire. Isn't it great to have this group of people to run your test images by? Bravo on these first images with the new equipment. Three "practice" shots and then the keeper! BTW Learning about lighting and CS2 would put me to bed! Don't know how you do it!
