Default Reno Air Races 2009 Preview

UPDATE: Lots more pictures posted later in this thread!

I'm at the Reno Air Races this weekend, and with a new arsenal of gear. Not the least of which is my D3 and Nikkor VR 80-400. I can't wait to get the 500mph, 50-feet-off-the-ground monsters, on film!! We went last year and got a nice picture of me (on the left, and aspiring T-6 Texan pilot) and my two boys, with Big Red's pilot, Gordo, who I belived placed third in the T-6 division last year. He's a friend of my father, and we got some good face time with him in the pits. We'll be part of his crew this weekend.

If anyone's shot plane races before, I'd sure appreciate any advice so I don't come home empty handed!

I'll be posting a few of the keepers if anyone's interested in checking back Monday!

Fly fast....turn left!!!

Great pictures equilution, and clearly with all your new goodies, a lot more to come.
OK, I've got my seat booked for the weekend and I'm watching this space

Great shots! I'd love to go to the air races, I bet thats a blast. Great pic of the T-6. We used to have an old one out here (Randolph AFB) and I flew it a couple of times (spewed oil like crazy) but it was fun! We of course have the new T-6's out here as well, as it's the AF primary trainer now, and its a pretty neat little airplane too. Hope you have a great time and good luck with all your picture taking! ;-)

Thanks, Betty. That T-6 is owned by Gordo Sanderson. He's a friend of my fathers. Unfortunately, he didn't make it to the Gold race Sunday. He finished second in the Gold qualifier! Great time, though. Much more pics to come.
