Default Nikki Sue Nikon's Word of the Day #2 - Relentless

DSC_0294

There is no pity in an ocean wave; no offer to relent
It churns and boils and roils till its energy is spent
Beware all you sailors, ships, buildings, and lands
I'll grind you to bits and spit you on the sands
Born of the winds from afar, no limit to our ranks
Relentlessly venting our wrath on your banks
There is no pity in an ocean wave; no offer to relent
It churns and boils and roils till its energy is spent
-Mike-

That vacation has done wonders for your inner poet. I have no poetry...I guess I need a vacation.....no wonder you couldn't swim in those waters....that's rough looking! I like the remnants of whatever that is out in the water.....it looks beaten to death....goes well with your verse

Hello Mike really good treatment of the photo, but my comment goes towards the words to accompany the photo, they are really appropiate to the photo and to the power of a wave and nature as a whole. It was really a nice change. TFS

WOW mike .. the photo is awesome..,. then I read the poem ! .. great stuff Bud ! ..
that's one angry ocean ..must have sounded like it too.

I like the rhythm and how the poem loops back, it has strong destructive words and fits the photo perfectly ! .. Well Done Mike !

I guess the answer to the question of "who uses the word 'roil'?" is Mike. There is nothing like the force of waves like these to remind me of my finite place and the largeness and power of forces without. You can practically feel the wind blowing and hear the pound of surf. It's a solar plexus shot. You did one thing with this poem I have wished for several poems now--signed your name. Like your photo, it, too, is powerful. Outstanding!

It's the remains of a pier, and of course the inspiration for the picture and the words. There's good reason why the Outer Banks is known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic

Thanks, Vin, I thought the first two lines so well described a wave, that they ought to be repeated.
