Default My very first night time shots .......

Whilst away last weekend I had my first go with night time shots with my Nikon D300.

What do you think?

Takapuna Shops

Exposure 1/160 sec at f4.0
Focal length 26mm
ISO 3200

Takapuna Shops

Exposure 1/200 sec at f4.8
Focal length 42mm
ISO 1800

Takapuna Shops

Exposure 1/15 sec at f22.0
Focal length 18mm
ISO 3200

Takapuna shops

Exposure 1/200 sec at f5.6
Focal length 105mm
ISO 800

Wow Bernz! Is there anything you can't shoot? I really love the framing and perspective in the first and last shots. They look like something you'd see in a travel magazine. In fact, the first shot looks good enough to be a cover to me.

Hi Bernie - I think you did an excellent job .. the colors are very rich and vibrant , I like your choice of subjects ... handheld? .. see, that was not difficult at all

I like 'em!

What kind of settings did you use?

I'm always interested in how different cameras/lenses perform in low light, since the majority of my photos are in low light. The first one's just beautiful, but I loved the reflections on the wet roadway in the third as much, if not more.

They are all fantastic shots. The colours and sharpness are brilliant. I really like the first one. Great job at your night time shots they are as bright and clear as day time.

These are absolutely great, I find night shots exceedingly difficult and I be over the moon,excuse the pun, if I could take shots like these. Well done.

Thanks Hayward - yes they were all taken handheld with ISO settings in the range of 1800 - 3200. Just experimenting. Cheers, Bernz
