Here are a few portrait shots of my daughter. I need help with the last one though. An unwated addtion (my dog) jumped into the photo just after i pressed the shutter. I've done my best to clone it out but i'm new to photoshop and have been left with a halo.
Here's a few others from the set also.

No clue on fixing the halo, but nice set of shots. She's a cutie.

First shot: too close and soft on the focus. Back away and change focal length lens or zoom setting.
Appears to be late evening sun light -- unless you really wanted the overly warm color tint, change white balance setting. Halo not particularly objectionable, but since we don't know what PhotoShop version you are using, can't suggest a remedy. Nice shots of the child, though. She seems to participate as a good model.

Hard to say without seeing the original, but I would agree with heaterguy. Looks like you have her isolated, put her on a new layer and then work on the background.
