Default evolution of a photograph #3

All righty, here is installment #3 of places I might "find" a shot......the other day I was driving down a road to the Winchester Dam and noticed a patch of yellow in the high overgrown grasses along the roadside.....having no shoulder, I pulled into the parking lot of an apartment complex. The black stick man is ostensibly "me". You will note the patch of yellow behind the 45 mph sign.

yellow pose

I parked the car in the lot and walked across the street to get a closer look.....the cars whizzing by created a challenge as every time they whooshed by the flowers would sway back and forth so I had to wait for the lull between cars

yellow pose 2

Here is the shot of the patch I was working with that day

DSC_1069

Watching where I was stepping......stones, twigs, snakes and who knows what else may have been under foot. When I got sufficiently close.......4 feet with lens set at 200 mm, I began "composing" different angles and arrangements
taking careful notice to not get too busy of a background....and this is the shot essentially created on the fly on the drive back to work. This shot is part of my now famous lunchtime portfolio......those of you who have been following my escapades know what I mean! Hope you enjoyed the installment of how I get the shot.....

Ever the intrepid hunter, I would say you got your quarry. Good inductive reasoning, too. Your "particular" is just lovely. I wouldn't have never suspected this photo would emerge from that tiny patch of yellow! Great job, Patrick!

And the intrepid photographer Patrick pulls off yet another award winning "lunchtime" photograph. This is a very good series you are showing, some people just don't realise where they can find a shot.

Wonderful hunting Patrick. I love the shot you were able to pull off. Wonderful dof and great uncluttered background. It really pays to take your time and really think about what you want to accomplish. You nailed it! Beautiful result.

I do hope you are keeping these installments Patrick, chapter three is excellent as are the results.
How about calling your book; the lunchtime photographer
copies could even be on the shelves in time for springtime next year

Very good Patrick, I didn't realize there was a second installment, missed that one.The pages are moving so fast now at DPS its almost impossible to keep up with all thats happening. Anyway I enjoyed this as well as it so well describes what we do.

Thanks Guys and Gals...I have enjoyed stringing a few of these experiences together to demonstrate that a shot does not always have to be in a controlled environment or in a pot.....We all need to be very aware of our surroundings and take advantage of what's already there. Most everybody already does this so well already so it's like a fun reminder of how all of us in this motley band go about looking at our world and capturing the little slices of life and beauty that others are too busy to notice.
