Love the use of grain in #1 and 3. All of them are excellent.

Hey Diz. I like these shots a lot, but I am curious if you intentionally applied the grain in 1 and 3. You chose some interesting perspectives to shoot from to get some very creative compositions. Good job, mate!

Cool study in textures Mike. I really like #3. Can't say why but I do. Great work.

You and M.C. Escher cousins? Would you like him to be a cousin? Could be 'cause you sure share his sensibilities. I love the grainy texture on the brushed copper wall. The reflections make it look a little like a modern stained glass window. Each pane could be an abstract photo on its own. "All men dream: but not equally". BTW The Pub was The Eagle and the Lady but referred to as "The Bird and the Baby".

Thankyou jam
i dont use grain filters much but this time i thought i would just experiment a bit and i kinda like the effects you can get. Although i will say that i was inspired by a DPs member who used a filter grain on a few occasions, so i wanted to find out how he did it -as he wasnt giving away too much lol!!
thanks for commenting
mike

Hi plang
yes it was intentional in one and three although maybe i could have got a similar effect by raising the ISO a lot more on my camera mmmm i will try that next time.I also wanted to play with the filters in photoshop as this is something i dont do too often, it was a nice learning curve. Although it was open day in Oxford, by going to one place you end up finding other great subject matter.
thanks plang glad you liked them and your comments have been inspiring

Thank you Fred for your comments.
mmmm no 3, i wasnt sure about putting this one on as you could say its a bit of a hoax really. I have been managing to find the odd one or two illusions recently, this was created in post editing. Its a fence made to look shadows -lol!! secrets out and i feel better!!
thanks fred

Hi linda.
yup i am still keeping my eyes peeled the illusions are out there lol!! I have just been playing around with grains a bit -its nice to experiment and often rewarding. I am not a big fan of too much post editing and i do try to keep it down. Its interesting how photos inspire and provoke ideas, i have an idea on a twist to stained glass thanks!![ The pub is mow called the eagle and child and has been so for a while lol!! But who knows what it might have been called that we dont know about.. Breweries sometimes put a modern twist to an old pub name hoping to make it more popular-it doesnt always work.
thanks again your comments are alway great and thought provoking
love and peace
mike
