So, I picked up a cheap strobe from ebay, set it up at an angle in my basement, shut off all the lights, wired up the shudder release on the camera and took the shot...

great shot. love the lighting effect from the strobe. I dont know why this went by without more replies. sometimes people are more interested in pics of sticks then a really quality shot like yours

Nice self-portrait. The B&W really works here. I don't know what the color version looked like, but maybe I don't need to. This is a great first effort. I haven't been bold enough to try a self-portrait yet. Don't think I'm such a great subject.

Thanks for the inspiration. I've got a complete strobe setup, too. But haven't taken it out of the box yet! What a travesty! I'll have to get something going this weekend.
