Default It was a dark and stormy night

Me to muse: "Look, 'it was a dark and story night' is just plain cheesy. For starters there's no "it" and besides you are plagiarizing."

Muse to me: "Okay. The night was dark and stormy. Is that better? Shhh. I'm composing. 'Deep in the bowels of the earth, the fomenting and roiling molten hot lava bubbled..."

Me to muse: Uh...let me stop you. Just for starters, some people are eating meals right now and they don't want to read the "b" word. Secondly, "roil"? What is that? And thirdly, "bubble"--that volcano was not bringing a cup of tea to a nice boil. If you're just going to resort to purple prose, go back to bed."

Muse to me: "Sure and then you are just going to write something boring like: "These are photos of Sunset Crater located in Northern Arizona which erupted sometime between 1080 and 1100. The explosion produced a blanket of ash and lapelli (small rocks) that covered a 1300 square mile (2100 km) radius."

Me to muse: True story.

This is a photo of Sunset Crater located in Northern Arizona....

Sunset Crater

"...come on. At least tell them it was seething with crimson hot lava. Plee-ze?"

Bonita Lava Flow

"This is a picture of a tree on a hill" (Psst: Guess which boring person wrote that?)

Tree above Bonita Vent

"Now we're talking. Look! The Cycle of Life! Once upon a time, long, long ago..."

Linda, your photographs are stunning and you and your muse are a great double act. The story certainly gave me a smile and I think you win over your muse with these wonderful photographs. The scenery is gorgeous and the colours are lovely. Thank You for sharing another great post.

Dave.

Great Set Lindyanna! I like it that you talk to yourself, I can identify with that!!! (She's going to think your calling her Crazy; No she won't, Lot's of people talk to themselves, Sometimes it the only way to have an intelligent conversation)
This is such an interesting area and so much to see. Glad you shared some of it with Us.
Thanks for sharing it
Michael.

Ancient bonds are breaking moving on and changing sides, dreaming of a new day cast aside the other way.

A beautiful set Linda, Sunset Crater, quite amazing, it erupts some 900 years ago and look at it now, the scars are still there, but the land regrows itself anew. You and your muse are producing some quality pictures and words, may your ancient bonds be broken and a new day bring fair fortune

Terrific landscape photographs of a beautiful but rugged place.
Now a little plagiarizing:
