Default End of the Trail (Statue)

Just wanted to share a statue I came across over this past weekend. This statue just screamed, "Use your wide angle lens, Dummy!". So I threw on the Tokina 11-16mm lens & got this.

End of the Trail_019-DSC_0967

EXIF:

Camera: Nikon D80
Exposure: 0.001 sec (1/800)
Aperture: f/4.0
Focal Length: 14 mm
ISO Speed: 100
Flash: No Flash

Good choice of lens and a very dramatic statue results in an excellent picture.
You've captured some great tones, shadow and highlights especially around the face and muscle mass on both horse and rider.
I can almost imagine how an alternative version might have looked in black and white, well done Digidave

I couldn't agree more. Great lens for that type of shot. Thanks for your comment.

Default Wonderful

I agree! excellent choice of lens to capture this subject, and accentuate this pose! Too bad about the power lines though… can they be thrown out of focus w/photoshop or something? Anyway, Great photo! -Jenny

Very cool. Love the angle... but shouldn't you worry if your lenses are talking to you?

The 14mm lens really give this shot a wonderful perspective. Where did you run across this, it looks familiar.

I would worry less if his lenses were talking to him... in this case the statue was screaming! I would have taken the picture too just to keep the statue happy.

Great shot! I love my wide angle lens, and use it all the time when I shoot my horses. This shot makes me want to get my husband all liquored up and put him on one of my horses ;-) of course I guess that would make it more cat ballou than end of the trail huh?

Oh, in that case it's ok It's when the lenses / camera start talking that you have to worry lol
