In the little time I have lately for photography, I've been working on a little bit of set-up shots, processing and trying to become more consistent.. I've noticed lately that as I push resolutuons and quality up .. my JPegs decrease in quaility ( exspecially on Flickr ) ..
![]() the above and below are my second attempted back-lit rose ( i tried the same project last night after work ) .. I seem to be losing the extra pop I've been working so hard to achive once I resize them.. this Image really came out great.. but after uploading to flicker it's lost it's bling.. I suppose I've hit a leaning curve again and will figure this out or I just never noticed the change. same set up, but a four shot HDR Conversion.. ![]() not added to compare .. just showing different post work. I had an idea of capturing the transparency of a rose's pedals ..just one of those crazy ideas we get, just wish I already knew how to maintain the sheen and pink light I got in orignals. I suppose it's the price paid for turning 15 megs into 500k .. Thanks for taking a look .. and putting up with my ranting Vin

Both of these are beautiful. The second one seems to have a sort or noir-ish feel about it to me.

I agree, I think they are both very beautiful. You are doing a great job with these. I do agree that the images do sometimes seem to lose a bit of their colorful "pop" when downloaded to Flickr.

Oh, I really like these. If I had to pick, I think the first would be my favorite! I hate what flickr does to images but I guess I have to use it until something better comes along.

Totally agree with you vin images do lose there bling once they are uploaded to flickr, but vin I must say both of these are stunning I like the second one a little more than the first one though. Great work, your thread has given me something to think about.

I like them both. Regardless of the pixels, you are a great photographer. I will find time to study HDR too. When I see beautiful pictures like these, I feel challenged to improve my skills . Thanks for sharing.

Your pictures are great Vin and I can only applaud your developing editing skills.
To get any dowonloads looking as good as yours do when the file suffers generational degradation when edited and then further compression when uploaded to flickr, is a wonder in itself, and by the way, I disagree with you, I think both flowers pop very well. Shine on you crazy diamond
