Default chain saw carving

Took this when i took my dog to the vet thought it was very interesting dont know if i capture it right though.
Off to college now for my first lesson on digital photography.If pics could be better please dont hesitate in putting me on the right track sorry admin if those pics are large please advise me if so

Okay, one observation..be aware of your background, a busy background that is in focus takes away from the image, use a shallower DOF to help blur the background or take a shot, look at it in the viewfinder then recompose and shoot again from another angle if there is to much in the background

I kinda agree with digirebelva. Not enough isolation on your subject... otherwise the woodcarvings has interesting color and texture!

I think this woodcarving is amazing, I can only imagine how skillfil one must be to plan, prepare and then create such a thing. Your picture does the figuers, the woodcarver and yourself great credit, well done
