Default Double celebration...and a side of me you have never seen before

First celebration is that this is my 1000th post, cool aye. And the second celebration is these photos were taken with my new Nikon D90 I have wanted a new camera for a long time but couldn't decide which one suited me the best. I love it! I have a lot to learn as I have mostly used P&S cameras but I love the freedom of being able to select aperture and shutter speeds etc. Now all I have to do is get out there and practise so here are some of the first pics I have taken with it so far. Hope you like them.

This is outside a country school that I pass often, I think it is a pretty cool sign.

Just around the corner from the school is this church, I like the blossoms on the trees that are out at the moment.

This is Chevy my cat.

And lastly here is a photo my husband took of me with my old P&S I'm taking a photo with my new camera.

Getting down to business

Congratulations angelb, twice
One for 1000 posts and one for acquiring the Nikon D90.
You celebrate with a very varied set but the second is my favourite for colour, composition, light, shadow and presention, nicely done

Congratulations Angela - 1000th post and a NEW Nikon D90. You deserve both honours!!!

Well you are certainly starting well, with the new camera, even though all your other fotos have been A++++. Just love Tirau and all the signage in that town. I have plenty too of Tirau signage but will leave it to you to show off your new camera at work - and of course your skills.

Well done - Cheers, Bernz

Thanks beachcomber, I like the second one for the same reasons.

Thanks Bernz for your kind words. I drive through Tirau a lot but it wasn't until yesterday that I finally took some photos of the signage there, I still have to go back to take some more. Nikon cameras are sooo cool.

Congrats on your camera....love your shots and I can tell we are going to see a bunch of very nicely taken photographs....I like teh 2nd shot of the church but the cat shot is one of the best cat shots that I have seen.......love that splash of light in the foreground but not touching the cat. Looking forward to seeing what you will do with it
