Derby Feste
Well took my own advice for a change and got out to get some fresh air and clear my head. Went to Derby to capture some of the things going on at the Derby Feste 2009.
Had a cracking time listening to some seriously good salsa music and watching folks having fun and then caught a French drumming group practicing for tonight. They are suspended on wires like a child's mobile about 120 feet in the air and play the drums while an acrobat goes through her routine above them the music reverberates all around you and it was brilliant to watch. Going back tonight to capture it at night and see them in costume, taking the video as well as it's so going to be worth it. Hope you enjoy these sample shots. David. Hot House Salsa.... Hi Hayward, thanks for your comment, yeah I love to just wander around and "People Watch". I am not holding out much hope tonight with the camera, I have so much to learn and taking shots at night is not my forte for sure but I am going to give it a try. Will see if they are good enough to post on here tomorrow.

Just got back about 30 minutes ago, so going to sort the photo's out in the morning. It was totally wicked and the drummers were seriously good. I just hope my photo's came out ok, Night images are not my forte...

Love the 2nd one the look on the mans face is comical, please dont tell me the mobile 1 is done using real people hanging from a crane?

Yeah Glyn, they were real people hanging from an 80 Tonne crane using it's "Fly Jib" they were about 120 feet up at some points so getting the light just right was difficult. It's been a cracking day and everyone seems to have had a lovely time. The show this evening in the dark was pretty spectacular and I have never seen anything like them before. Such a good evening.
