I can actually feel the isolation of those places and objects, not to mention the Victorian atmosphere.

Congrats on the new camera! I'm saving for a D90, myself. Seeing these shots only makes me want one more. The grittiness of the red post box is exceptional. The expression on the cow's face is priceless. I'd say the new camera is a hit!

Wonderful excursion, Diz. Amazing architecture and sculptures of the earls. Love the black and white cow, but my favorite is the mail box. I can see multiple thick coats of red paint, some of it spattered onto the weathered post and green algea to top off the color pallette. Very good find.

You have been busy again, an eclectic mix with two standing out for me. The first shot is great. Good angle, good use of B/W, and rarely do I look at a cow picture without remembering the cover from Pink Floyds, Atom Heart Mother
The third picture is excellent, The Fettiplaces, were a well known family of local benefactors traceable back to 1215, the time of Magna Carta. I have never seen the memorial in person but its extremely impressive. Great set Mike

hi hell and thanks,
thats one of the reasons i go there really besides the interesting subject matter. Theres ony a few people around and you can just absorb the whole place and sense the isolation and loneliness. Beats the city anyday!!
thanks for you comments Hell its appreciated

hi mike1
yea that mail box was cool to shoot i just had to get it as theres not many around, no pride i am afraid in the years of painting but thats adds charecter. This shot is really as seen. The church warden couldnt really fathom why i was so interested in it
thanks mike its appreciated.

Hi steve
there are actually two memorials but this one is harder to get to, being right up by the alter and sort of closed off, its more interesting than the other with more datail.Well it seems we have common tastes in music and ideas thats exactly what i was thinking at the time and thought nah!! its corny and ripping off!! thats one of the reasons its B/W.
The Fettiplaces were i think one of the biggest land owners at one point-thanks for your info on them i have been too lazy to follow it up.It certainly is amazing but it has a humorous touch which makes it more interesting.
thanks again steve
come on the twister lol!!
