Default Swimming assignment how boring

There's nuthin more boring that having to shoot a swimming preview of a high school student. Swimmers....they swim up and down a lane. Now the trick is, is to make it interesting to the audience. Let there be light and lots of it. I used four canon 580 EX flashes fire remotely by the ST-E2 Transmitter and balanced the flash out put to that of the horrible existing lighting in the pool.

The portrait was shot with my 300mm at f2.8 and 60th second shutter speed.
The butterfly was shot with a 70- 200mm at f2.8 at 250th second to freeze the water drops as she swam.

The shot of her poolside was shot with my 70-200mm at 2.8 at 30th second.

The rest of the shots, I wanted to show motion as she swan through the pool. They were shot at f5.6 at 1/15 of second using second curtin synch.

I think the butterfly shot is my favorite.

Thanks for giving the settings. I like to experiment using other peoples settings and see if I can duplicate the results.

Actually it was fun assignment. It took longer to set up lights, take pictures, adjust lighting and such. I think I only shot about 107 pictures.

I don't think they are boring at all. They all look great. Love the portrait shot.
