Default Dragon Fly - Just hanging around

Went out to visit Attenborough Nature Reserve" near Nottingham today. Lot's to see and photograph but wanted to try and capture the beauty of the Dragon Flies that are always there. Anyway here is my attempt...
I hope you like it,

Little out of focus in the eyes, back of the wings where great. I've found using manual focus and "rocking" in and out to work well on dragonflies. For some reason when you're close, the turning of a focus ring will scare them but slowly moving in and out doesn't. Also shooting in Aperture priority and using the smallest aperture possible to get more DOF helps.. Nice light and background.

Looks like he's hanging on for dear life. I like his blue and brown colors. Well done!

This is a great first attempt, great detail in the righthand side wings and the colours and patterns are amazing. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the kind comment, it's a difficult subject to get the focus just right but I will get there in the end
David.
