I like it.. it has a different feel to it.. honestly i had to look at it a while to figure out what kind of emotion it had.. thats not a bad thing

Interesting.

Did you think of trying it as a mono....with a slightly (more) blurred background to emphasise the player? I know this is not critique...I do apologise if I offended...it was simply my first impression.

no offence taken , I did try a mono version but wanted to experiment a bit.
decided to use a vignette rather than blur because I liked the way people were grouped in the background watching somebody else , so rather than blur them out completely the effect I was trying to achieve was another layer of interest in just a slightly darker tone .
