Default Grand Opening Skate Park

The skate park in the big town of Caledonia, MS opened last Saturday and it was a good opportunity to shoot my daughter' boy friend and a few others. I shot over 200 pictures, however I only uploaded a few on Flicker. I had a great time. Enjoy!

This is the boyfriend. Great kid.

Default Some tips if you don't mind

I think your photos are great, very well captured, however if I may . . .

Shoot with your 18mm - 55mm set at 18mm although it's not really wide enough. Get closer, ok now get closer still, fill that frame.

Shooting in AV (aperture value) is fine, just don't shoot wide open (2.8) shoot at f8 or f10 for real crisp shots.

Play with some "second curtain" flash stuff and a slower shutter speed for a nice ghosting effect. Try some "pan-blur" type of shots.

I love shooting skaters . . . or sports, or landscapes, or people, or . . .

True. That's why Nikon 10.5 DX is often used in skateboarding.

Great shots, I love the skate parks, they are a lot of fun. You got some great images, I especially like the 3rd shot. Nice job.

Hey, Thanks for the great advice. I did at one point in time drop the aperture down just because it was really sunny. The flash stuff and slower shutter speeds, pan are cool ideas. I'll get back out there and try some.

Thanks to all for the positive comments.

All are great shots especially #3 love the intense expression. I enjoy watching skaters preform their tricks, they have so much talent and perseverance.

Perserverance is exactly right. So many times they don't hit the trick but they keep on coming back.....try it again and again and......practice make s perfect. What you don't see ni the photos is the end of the trick. They come out of the trick if many funny ways trying to bs as graceful as possible Fun to watch
