Default First Shot at Creative Portrait work

So have been trying to really work on my photography lately, past few years just point and shoot strategy, get lucky but never knew why one shot truly looked better than another....and shot in auto all the time. Now working on either Manual or aperture priority, and really learning a lot and having fun. Have really found this site helpful and inspiring. Here are some results from some key learnings from this site....still a long ways to go but enjoying seeing my pictures getting better than simple point and shoot pictures!

The more advice, pointers, thoughts, the better....thanks in advance for any feedback!

I think these shots are lovely. Please keep posting....I can't wait to see more now that I'm able to be online more.
