All absolutely beautiful shots my friend, and so well captured...and Michele is just lovely. Being a farmers kid...the cattle pic is brilliant, but the sunset has to do it for me every time. Thanks for sharing your special part of Australia.

Hi Patrick, windmills are built above wells in the ground (or in Australia we call them bores) the water is artesian and needs to be pumped to the surface. The wind catches the blades which turn and drive a geared mechanism which causes a long pipe to go up and down which drives the pump at the bottom of the well. The water is pumped up to the surface and, with this particular windmill, is stored in a holding tank because it is the house water. Other windmills across the property pump water into troughs to keep the animals watered and if the troughs are full the excess is pumped into a "turkeys nest" or dam which ensures permanent water for stock. Where my sister-in-law lives there is nothing around. it is 85 klms to the nearest town of approx. 2,000 people, her nearest neigbour lives 10 klms away, when it rains there is no way in or out except by helicopter. Anyway that's why they have windmills, I thought you had windmills over there?

Nice work again Michele, I love the last one. The cow sure is cute... I've never had the honor of having a cow named after me. Congratulations....

there might be one here or there.....not in my area.....I suppose we use electricity to pump water with deep well pumps......I suppose your windpower is sufficient to operate. What happens if there is an extended period of calm? or does that ever happen?
