I closely follow quite a few members of DPS..and some are many levels above me in skill and ability, yet remain humble and share thier knowledge freely and that's a huge boost to someone with less then a year with a dlsr and a un-quenchable thirst for improving.
Sharing examples of images with all the elements correct and leaving nothing but the enjoyment of subject is something learned with experiance and practice, Relying on getting a few " lucky shots " in a 100 shot outing is not working on your game.. and one member has taught me what's involved in capturing nature.. I will admit, I'm not there yet, but I have grown leaps and bounds, " your first 10,000 photos are your worst" and I've got a ways to go yet. So I pay tribute to " PRIMETIME " for taking time to post here in SYS and give me a measure of where I am and where I want to be, Prime can shoot the hell out of Deer and he always gets a Pose, sometimes when I see them and am close enough for a good shot, they don't always pose.. Deer + no Pose = average at best, so I learned with animals, even a well taken shot has to have it. ![]() Shooting birds is also something I greatly admire about Prime.. I am in the process of paying my dues with my birding..scouting locations, doing research.. the hiking.. oh man the hiking ! .. but to continue to add to the " collection " you have to go find them.. or you can Hike to the Deck in the backyard and drink Ice tea and shoot the locals ![]() but focus, contrast and color are paramount regardless of which bird.. notice the pose ! I've also tried my hand at doing a Ansul Adams and Edmonds, so now I'm copying Prime with the same purple spiky flower he just posted .. ![]() I really do like his better .. but I thought it a little ironic we both has the same type of shot. I also would like to mention my much better understanding of deep contrast balanced with clear detail, he happens to have that down pat and has given me some great pointers, I am starting to get better at getting that certain look. So, he's either gonna hate this .. or he'll like it .. mostly a quiet guy, for months now I have often thought of his work while I'm out there looking for " the shot " And I felt like saying thanks. Thanks Prime, you show me the way Bud ! Vin

Well, think these shots are very nice, especially the bird. Love the markings on the feathers.
