Default Lake Sabrina and Middle Fork

Went for a hike up around Lake Sabrina and Middle Fork Bishop Creek the other day. I must say...Mother Nature was very generous with her paintbrush this day...It was a fantastic day for color and clouds...

Lake Sabrina

Nornmally…on a Sunday in August…this place is literally elbow to elbow with fisherman. You can’t get a line in edgewise…which is why I typically avoid the middle fork. But when the rains come, and it clouds up, the fisherman head for cover. Fortunately, as a photographer…i LOVE overcast days. Gives you wonderful light…

This stump shot is actualy my favorite of the day. This is a great little fishing hole, and I have spent plenty of hot afternoons sitting atop this dead tree stump.

Thanks for taking the time to look!

Beautiful series. The one with the tree stump is my favorite, too. The texture of the stump, the colors of the water, and the composition do it for me. Wish I had some memories to go along with it!

These are all well-done and very appealing.

The last one is my favoirte, too. I could be very happy there.

For your Lake Sabrina photo, is that HDR, or did you use a polarizing filter, or did you do something else?

Lake Sabrina was shot using stacked 1stop soft and 2stop soft graduated ND filters. It is NOT an HDR, it is a single exposure. The split ND filters really help to improve the dynamic range, and the mottled light coming through the clouds helped alot, too...
