Default Got it! My first SLR shot...

Okay Okay.. the (best) of my first SLR shots.

I just got my Rebel XSi in the mail last night... Charged up the battery overnight and walked out into my backyard (full of spiders, grasshoppers, dragonflies, ants, wasps, lizards, etc; welcome to Florida...we have creepy crawlies) this afternoon to experiment.

I played around w/out reading any manuals or anything.. just to experiment (come-on who reads the manual before taking some test shots?) and even though there were quite a few discards... I was able to use those to fine tune my settings..(the clouds kept going off and on the sun, so it was a good lesson in resetting exposure, etc)..

The best shot out of my first 30ish shots... a little crop, exposure, saturation adjust. I had to chase this guy all over and I kept it on Manual Focus and AV Priority... first time holding a camera barrel since high school. Gotta get used to it! I kept trying to get close but I'd spook the lizard, so I ended up backing up and using full zoom. Only way to get him (her?) to relax.

Shutter: 1/13
Aperture: f11.0 (Set to AV)
ISO 100
250mm (he was hard to follow... acted more natural when I backed off.. out came the full zoom!)
Lens EF-S 55-25-mm f/4-5/6 IS

I personally love the shot and am already happy with my new toy. I have the next two days off so I see a camera field trip in the works... Run a couple of errands and bring the camera with!

Hope you enjoy!

Congratulations! Your first outing was a complete success. This is a really nice image. Good focus, composition and, nice subject. We don't have green lizards out here.

Well done indeed!! I like the out-of-focus green back ground. Enjoy your camera.
