Default Inside the Barge

Hi everyone. I haven't been out taking phogographs for a while so yesterday, I went back to the canalside, a little further north than ususal, to a place called Garstang. The pub in the first picture is a lovely place to eat and is a converted barn where they hold medieval banquets. It's a great place to sit and have a bite to eat or a drink and watch all the boats go by.
The rest of the set is my walk along the tow path. I came across a small barge on the path side and the owner was cleaning it. I asked him if I could take a picture inside the barge because my Bessie friend Angeleyes asked what it was like inside a barge. He was willing to oblige. I thanked him on your behalf Lorraine.
I hope you all enjoy.

More of the barges can be seen on my flickr.

Stand by the drawbridge, waiting for barges
Waiting around for smiles from the man.
Lifting the bridge whilst watching the horses
Dragging the slow boats up the canal.
Ralph McTell

A different way of life, from a different era, so restful the gentle swaying to and fro.
Then you leave the pub and walk the short distance home to your beautiful floating home. Great day out, great commentary and great pictures Dave, I know Lorraine will love these

I love the old pub, looks so quaint. English pubs are just so nice, so very different to ours. My favorite was in Eckington where we shared our tea with the owners dog. The barges look very nice as well. Could be a very nice way to travel.

Love the pub. Looks like a great place to relax. Love the barges. Looks like a great place to relax. I see public bar over the barge cabin. Seems like there's not a great distinction between a pub and a barge. Both are great places to relax. I need to go to England.

I need to go to England too...the beauty and the tranquility of these shots make me want to pack my bags and head off...im so thankful to the owners of the barge for letting us all take a peak inside. And the pub is so lovely. I can imagine how good the food is and how relaxing it would be to spend an evening there watching the barges go by.
thank you for sharing your part of the world with us David. I love them.

Bessie

Thats nicer than my RV!!
Talk about a beautiful setting and you did them a great justice by making them a memory caught on film. Well, disk or whatever it is now.

I have been to England and yes....Mike and Lorraine, you definitely need to go....It would be great if we could get a band of folks to go over together and meet the English band and go shooting....Dave, the pub is very English and reminds me of my time there way back in 1985.
