Default girls in the pool, a robin up close and roses in the dark

A few days ago, we took advantage of the weather and our schedules and headed to one of the city pools for an afternoon swim........

DSC_0264

This robin was apparently injured as it could not fly away so I was able get this off without too much trouble.....It hopped and I followed along

DSC_0481

Experimenting with a normal rose shot and darkening to block out the background

pink rose in the dark

A 2nd try at the same effect as above

Interesting effect on the rose, why didn't the rose darken? Great shot in the pool, making the most of summer? It is winter here, yesterday it was 37 degrees c. My husband and grandchildren went for a swim!!!

Michelle, it did darken but not too much so due to it's light coloration....would probably worked really well with a white rose. Just in my Canon zoombrowser software, I just slid the darkness slider all the way to the left and the image turned out as posted.....boosted saturation a tad and contrast a little...here is the original

Ah, the pool looks so refreshing. I like what you did with the rose, and I also like the original. Great shot of the robin, hope its ok, you know I seem to have a soft spot for injured birds. Nice set of photos.

These are nice, the girls look like they are having a great time and that is what summer is all about. I know mine love to go swimming at Grandmas (which we may do Wed.). The rose is pretty neat. Almost looks like it is glowing in the dark. I love the original also. I also hope the little Robin can manage. He is so adorable. Thanks for another nice set!
