i loooove these trees (and the one behind and on the left) all they are is sticks with pink flowers all over them, virtually no leaves. its very pretty ..especially when the light is shining through it.

Nice portrait ! The way you have the bottom of the shot lit it almost looks surreal. Which gives it a Suesslike feel. (if that is an understandable word)

I believe we just saw one of those trees in California this week. If it is the same, they are beautiful..I'd never seen one before. What is the name of it?

or how to pronounce it.do you mean like Dr. Sues? ![]() the flash filling in the shadows, as cast by the sun gives it an in-camera HDR type effect. see the fence on the left.. i really dont know to be honest, theres dozens f them in this particular area.. but being residential theres cars and telephone lines everywhere.. so its almost impossible to get a decent picture of them.

there is obviously a little bit of photoshop involved (not much tho..a crop and a little saturation.. and a tad bit of lightening on the face to make the mug pop out a little more.. otherwise its in-camera, but the HDR lok came naturally , exposing for the highlights and filling in the shadows with two flashes. like this, but with the flashes on stands obviously check out Strobist for info on how thanks for your kind comment

That looks like a Magnolia tree - not sure of what type. However back to the foto - very well composed and I like what you have done with the lighting. Full marks from me. Cheers, Bernz
