my very first

This is my first photo taken with my 40d,with a sigma 500 lens,I have only had the camera a week or so,and only got the lens last week,as I want to try and get into wild life photos,the photo was taken at well over a thousand yards,so maybe I am over doing it a bit, but you got'a try,never had a DSLR before,only ever had P&S.
I still can't get my head round the re-size of photos, so if this is an incorect photo,please deleat this thread.

But,I think I may be ok this time.
The bird is a Hen Harrier,next time I will hope to get a bit closer..
and it's not all birds,got this on the same day,

you can just see the water as the deer shakes itself dry.
