Default Texas Beach

Hello all,

Attached are some of my pictures I took while at a Texas beach with My Canon Xsi kit lens. I just finished reading several books on dslr because I want to get the most of mine. What would you change about these shots to make them pop more?

I am still learning about the settings. For example it took more than an hour to get the moon shot with about 60 trial and error pictures. Is there an easier way to get a base where to start your settings?

I ask because I am traveling to Australia and I want to get incredible shots but will not have the time to sit and try different settings for each shot.

Thanks

Mike

that suset is fabulous....if your settings aren't getting what you want then quickly switch to one of the auto program settings to at least get something workable and then you can jazz them in post processing if absolutely necessary.

When you say Jazz it up. Are you talking about with Photoshop or Gimp?

Im still learning but one thing that has worked for me is to take the first shot in manual with what I think the settings should be and then the second shot in full auto. I've found it a pretty quick way to learn how the different settings effect the exposure.

Hope this helps.

Your posted photos are really too small to tell much about, and your link only takes us to your Picasa site that states "No public albums," but they look pretty good. Which Texas beach area was that?

These are absolutely fantastic shots... Someimes I will do some tweaking in post processing to bring out the hidden beauty. I use photoshop but I know others here use gimp and even paintshop pro. You can straighten crooked horizins easilyget just the crop you want.

Welcome to DPS
The photo of the sunset is brilliant. You could try uploading your photos from flickr as 99% of us here do, it will make it easier for people to see the detail in a bigger picture. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing more from you as this is a great start.
