I came soooo close to throwing this image away because it was very similar to other ones from the session. I decided to just try a close crop with it before I tossed it...and it ended up being my favorite one from the whole session.

Wow, she is such a beauty! Thank goodness you thought better of this image! What a fabulous save. Would have been a real shame to have let it go. Sometimes I walk away for a day or two and then revisit them. I always see something different the next time I look at it. Not always good for me but yours are just fabulous. Beautiful work as always Ruthie!

WOW Ruthie I agree with you 100% I LOVE that first shot too. She is beautiful and photographs very well.
Good Job! Awesome depth of field, even her earrings are out of focus that is AMAZING!!!

Ruthie
You are by far the best portrait photographer I have seen on this site. I use you as the benchmark by which to judge my own work with kids and friends. (can you feel a but coming on...) But... to me the closeup has the eyes looking almost fake. I am sure sure if they are over-processed or if that is natural, but I would tone it down a touch. My wife has very similar features and it is tempting to "up" them almost out of habit rather than necessity. The other 2 are just spectacular (I feel like I am calling out Mr Myagi for poor karate form) |

Thank you ....I'm so glad I didn't either

I don't mind cc at all! I truly appreciate it when someone takes the time out to help me get better. Perhaps the reflector in the lower part of her eye was overkill. She has great catchlights without it..so it may not have been needed.

Never throw them away - hard drives are so cheap these days and you may have a different idea later. Cropping hard has a good effect - well done. Cheers, Bernz
