Default My home town, photo walk last night...

Finally some shots from my home town! Last night there was an organized MoPhoto Walk in Modesto, CA. My Mom went with me and we had a great time. We met lots of wonderfully talented nice people. Even DPS's very own award winning photographer Eric aka AlphaBjerke. It was a great experience and I look forward to doing another photo walk sometime.

Downtown peddle car:

Have to include the famous Modesto Arch:

I am sure you have heard of Gallo Wines, well they are a huge part of Modesto and this our performing arts center named the Gallo Center for the Arts. It is a beautiful theater and I am fortunate that I get to go here a few times every year with my girls for some wonderful performances. My Mom and I saw a fabulous Janice Joplin show here last year.

Gallo Center

The McHenry Museum, another fabulous place to visit. It is free to go into and has so many wonderful artifacts and old photographs of Modesto's history. It is really fun at Christmas time they have displays of old vintage toys and it is really decorated beautifully. I will have to go back in a few months and get some pictures then.

McHenry Museum

Hope you enjoyed your visit to Downtown Modesto.

You've got that panning down! Isn't it fun to photowalk with other photogs?

Yes, it is! It is so fun to talk photography with others that understand you and not look at you like you are speaking alien. I am so fortunate to have my Mom so close with the same passion as I. We talk daily! And shoot together as often as we can! I am a very lucky girl.
Thanks Beach glad you enjoyed your visit to Modesto.

I got so lucky. I almost always have my camera in Manual Focus and I just turned and fired. I was quite pleased with my results. Thanks so much!

Yeah, I think that is my winner from the night. You will have to come next time!!! Bit of a travel but so worth it.

My EXIF was:
Camera: Canon EOS 50D
18-55mm kit lens
Exposure: 0.1 sec (1/10)
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 55 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Flash: Off, Did not fire

To pan you have to track your subject. If you use auto focus, I start with locking my focus (half press the shutter button) on my subject and panning with the action then I just wait for my moment and fire away in burst mode as I continue to pan with the subject. In Manual focus it is much the same but you have to manually change your focus as the subject is getting closer which can be very tricky. I really got very lucky this shot worked out the way it did. Thank you. I hope I was of some help and if anyone with more knowledge wants to add to this please feel free.

Thanks Mom, I had so much fun with you. I always do when we get together. I look forward to our next outing as well. I think we should do downtown Merced sometime. Next time we will have to remember to silence our cell phones before we head into a pressentation. That was FUNNY! Love you!

Thanks Vin! I like that I can read "Ride at your own risk" right on the step. Yes, plenty of wine in Modesto. So happy you stopped by and glad you liked them.
