Here are two shots I got today with my new 85mm f/1.8 lens:
![]() ![]() Nailing the focus on bigger apertures like I used in these is tougher than I thought. I am definitely going to need some practice...

Both are fantastic b&w photos, great reflections and lighting. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting Captures, well focused and presented. Nice perspective in the 2nd one. I'd be playing with that one in CS4. I imagine at 1.8 the Dof is just about razor thin. I've read about that lens and it has some great reviews. I'm kind of torn between it and the New Canon mount Carl Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 Planer T lens.
Thanks for Sharing these Michael.

I like the second one and the shadows. The first one looks a bit crooked to me? But it may be just me. lol

Yeah, the DOF is unbelievably shallow when this lens is wide open. I didn't shoot these wide open, but the aperture was pretty large - 2.2 for the first one and 2.0 for the second one. The colors are great in this lens, and the sharpness of whatever is in focus (correct subject or not - haha) is great. It definitely has a learning curve, though. Granted, for it being a new toy, I haven't played with a whole lot. I'll give it a fair review after this weekend, provided the weather is cooperative.
