Default Another Afternoon on the River

Yesterday I decided to take my Canon 500 f/4.0 L and see if I could get some better pictures of the birds along the river, There were some folks in the water so not too many birds were around, but I did manage to get a few.

Sand Piper

Heron fly by. I always seem to get set just after they are heading away. I guess I need more practice.

Same Heron,

Newly emerged Dragon Fly. Just letting it's wings set so it can fly away.

Few contributers post to a consistently high standard, fewer still exceed the standards on a regular basis.
Today and yesterday have seen a great way to spend lunchtime and I love the long distance sand piper, the heron flies past and is nailed not once but twice, and finally the emerging dragonfly, and the charming watercolour PP extra
Top quality Michael, nicely done mate

These are all beautiful shots. I am just starting out and hope to take great photos like these - after a lot of practice. Thank you for sharing.
