Default A Mixed Selection

Leaf Drops

RainBells

Having a noise issue with those first two that I need to figure out.

BirdFeederDetail
Detail of an old bird feeder.

NightExposure
A missed lightning opportunity but I liked the result...kind of 'abstracty', if that's a word.

Thanks for looking!

Like all of the shots. Love the red sky in the bottom one, the texture of the bird feeder, and the focus and droplets on the first image.

Interesting set of shots. I like the golden glow in the bottom of the goblets and the variations in the red color of the last one.

I went to your flickr and looked at the settings on your first two. Your ISO was set at 800. I'm not familiar with the Sony cameras, but I know noise starts to show on my D40X at an ISO of 800. The effect shows up more in dark pictures, so I would suspect that's where the noise came from. You might not have noticed as much noise in your third shot if it had been shot at 800 because there is more light and the textures in the shot would have masked the effect somewhat. Generally speaking, the more expensive cameras (again, I don't know anything about yours) have better sensors and the noise doesn't start to show on them until much higher ISO settings.

Thanks Mike. I agree with what you're saying. Those first two were taken in macro mode of a newer lens of mine. On top of that, it was a dark and stormy day at that time, (tornado sirens were going off in town, this is why I was out with my camera...) It was the balance I came up with at the time to get images that weren't too dark. I need to experiment more with that lens under those conditions to get better images. These were handheld so I'm thinking a tripod with a longer shutter setting to allow a lower ISO?

Again, thanks for taking the time, it's appreciated!
