Default Time And Water...

In downtown Wichita, along the river. We have structure called the Water Wall. It's a neat wall and waterfall combination that features a gradually climbing wall flanked by man made falls. I have featured the Water Wall in posts here at DPS before. I found myself there yesterday and decided to have some fun with moving water and time. There's not much that demonstrates shutter speed, aperture and movement better, than moving water. If I may be so forward, I think you will agree.

A crowd is made up of individuals. If you are far away, they tend to meld together. Water falls are made up of single drops, just take a look at the water dropping off the Water Wall. It looks as if each drop is frolicking and jumping into the stream.

WaterWall Splash9

When you crank the aperture closed and slow down the shutter, the drops disappear into the crowd. Frolic and action is replaced by seeming peace and quiet flow.

WaterWall Splash6

The clouds above suggest that more drops are ready to come and join the fun. Moving water, rainy days, drops forming streams and streams flowing all seems so simple, but yet so peaceful.

WaterWall Splash4

Our Water Wall ends in a triple falls, great for a timed exposure. The drops are once again part of the crowd.

very nice set Tom.. I've seen this before, but this time shows what a little experiance and knowledge does .. I really like how you have different speeds showing the water ( I guess Steve said the same thing ) .. but it's very cool to see flowing water is such a pretty site in different states ( sort of ) .. well done, they are all very interesting and good quailty !

Thanks Vin! It was a good day to shoot considering the time of day, about two pm. The cloud cover really helped. Thanks again buddy.

As others have mentioned, I like how you created a different view and feeling with each image. Well done!
