Smile At your back

Hello!
So I've been lurking around these forums for about a month now, power learning as much as I could before making the DSLR plunge. Thanks goes to everyone who has helped me without even knowing it.

Anyways, I imagine the best way to introduce myself to a photo community would be sharing some shots. Here goes nothing.

Both photos were taken at a friend's wedding, within 24 hours of owning a brand new Canon T1i, my first dslr. It was a learning experience that I enjoyed, and I hope to continue enjoying for a long time.

This was a garden statue outside of the church. I was having fun playing with bokeh and thought this turned out pretty cool. Btw thought "At your back" was an acceptable title for this pic due to the sun coming over the shoulders, especially since the sun was coming over a church first.

Disney much? Their cake, obviously, but I love the angle and how the figurine is in focus and the castle's focus fades as it goes.

Until next time, thanks for the great site!

Welcome! Glad to see you posting, and to see that you're focusing on things such as the direction of the light.

Both shots are pleasing. And I, too, like the narrow DOF in the wedding cake shot.

WELCOME to DPS

Nice work...these are pretty good shots. Keep working at it, and posting...that's the best way to learn...but you're doing pretty good as it is.

Thanks for the kind words. This has become the second site I check everytime I sit at the computer (I gotta keep up with my Dallas Cowboys first) so hopefully i'll keep on learning and start taking some good pics to share.
