Love the site, lot's of great info and inspiration for beginners like myself. New to all this, so bear with me!

I do like the gritty one, i think if it had a nice looking sky it would work.

Maybe not Kevin, there will be a lot of people that like it. I am just not a fan of over-cooked photos, somewhere between the two would be my thinking. But, remember it is your eye you need to please, so if you like it, go for it. What's great about this site is you will get many different opinions and you weed out and use what works for you. Keep the photos coming you're off to a great start.
