Hopefully this is the right place to be posting these...
These are a month old, but wanted to post them here. My favorite of the day, ![]() Kiss under the umbrella, ![]() I only wish there was some movement in the veil, ![]() Last one, ![]() I did this as a gift for the couple, but was very (ie, SUPER) nervous having never photographed a wedding before. My only regret is that I didn't have more time. From when I started shooting to packing up was less than 40 mins (they spent waaaaay too much time in the receiving line). They're happy though, so I'm happy. Hoping it'll lead to more opportunities, but we'll see. Here's the rest of the set (or at least what I've uploaded to flickr). |

Great wedding set. I really like the B/W shots. I like the perspect of them all. Well done. The happy couple should be very pleased with these.

No a bad attempt for a first wedding!
#1. I have brought out detail in wedding dress #2. i have brought out detail in tuxedo, but wedding dress is blown out to far to correct #3. I have added contrast and uprighted the stone monument #4. Added detail to dress and Tux Please, before you do another wedding, e-mail me,or PM me; I hve been photographing weddings for over 50 years, and I can explain how to expose correctly to get detail in dress and tuxedo, without blowing out the highlights. Love the shoot!
The second image, kiss under the umbrella is a bit washed out as to the dress and the crop is a bit off for my taste. As for the rest, bravo! The first image is great, the only thing I might do with it is layer a copy using Gaussian blur then blend using multiply to give it a more dream like feel. Maybe even just blend it around the image to give it a nice vignette. The third image is awesome but I might have gone with a little tighter crop, straightened out the image as well because it looks like the monument is leaning in the background and done some layering of images as well with Gaussian blur layer and maybe multiply or experiment to give just a slight look of deeper color tones and the same dream like effect but not so much to make it look like a cookie cut glamor shot. The last image has perfect composition and the only thing I might try would be layering the same Gaussian blur as a vignette to kind of frame the couple and give it a dreamy, happily ever after look. The edits Ken did are horrid to my eye, maybe that's what some people want but the B&W's he did are too harsh and look like a bad HDR edit or duo tone, just not what I;d do with such wonderful photos. This is just my opinion and I'm not trying to slam anyone, just a personal opinion. If you want I could do some quick edits to show you what I'm talking about if you're not too sure, but only with your permission.

P.S.
I also noticed on the EXIF data from Flickr you used GIMP software for post, that might be part of the problem with the offset contrast. I haven't used it personally but I've seen some really bad post edits from good stock photos using this software. With the camera you used this should have not been a big problem as to tonal differences because the D40 has a great dynamic range. Try using some other editing software to see if it makes a difference.

I really think you did a wonderful job for your first time out. One of the hardest aspects in photography is taking the leap and being confident in your ability. I really like the first shot of just the bride and the rough stone wall. Beautiful.
