i'm confused...did this get moved to "Share your Shots" from the critique section? I don't even see that this individual even asked for anyones help or advice.

Muddyboots - nice shots. I checked out you flickr page and there are more really nice captures there too. I really like your composition. These are really quite nice.

Nicely done. I really like the first one. The softness of the dress aginst the texture of the stone wall is very appealing.

You did a very nice job on these and i think each time you will learn something new and you will improve on what you already have..thank you for sharing these.

Just a reminder this is not the critique section.

As for the rest, bravo!

The first image is great, the only thing I might do with it is layer a copy using Gaussian blur then blend using multiply to give it a more dream like feel. Maybe even just blend it around the image to give it a nice vignette.

The third image is awesome but I might have gone with a little tighter crop, straightened out the image as well because it looks like the monument is leaning in the background and done some layering of images as well with Gaussian blur layer and maybe multiply or experiment to give just a slight look of deeper color tones and the same dream like effect but not so much to make it look like a cookie cut glamor shot.

The last image has perfect composition and the only thing I might try would be layering the same Gaussian blur as a vignette to kind of frame the couple and give it a dreamy, happily ever after look.
I do that this kiss shot without the crop, but I did it deliberately. I kind of like the non-traditional crop... especially since I took lots of "normal" ones of them kissing. As for her dress, I did try to add some detail back in, but obviously not successfully enough!

Vignette, eh? While I think I have an idea of what you're talking about, I'm not quite sure how to do it myself. In Gimp. Although I'd love to have PS, Gimp is my only option right now.

I hear you on the leaning monument. I didn't really notice it until a couple of you pointed it out. THAT, I'm pretty sure I know how to fix in Gimp. As for the crop, I did do a tighter crop in the BW one in my Flickr set, but didn't want to post all BW one here. I do like the tighter crop better.

As for the last image... "perfect composition"? Where's the blushing smiley? Not bad for a shot I took with my camera bag over one shoulder, a step ladder over the other, a bag of towels in the one hand (since it had rained and I knew no one else would remember), holding an umbrella over my head with my chin, while holding camera in the other hand. I'm very happy with it too.

I haven't used it personally but I've seen some really bad post edits from good stock photos using this software.

With the camera you used this should have not been a big problem as to tonal differences because the D40 has a great dynamic range.

Try using some other editing software to see if it makes a difference.
Unfortunately, Gimp is all I have. I would love to buy PS, but it's not in the budget right now.

I admit to having a few "Why on earth did I agree to this??" moments. The first picture is by far my favorite.

I definitely took my share of traditional, posed shots (with parents, wedding party, etc), but much prefer these less obvious ones. Thanks for looking!

I DON'T THE ADVICE. Really. Maybe it should be moved?? I was kind of confused as where to put this thread in the first place. While it's nice to hear what people liked, I am eager to learn what I could/should have done better/differently. I want to improve should the opportunity come up again.

Again, I don't mind the critiques. Should this thread be moved? I don't want to break any rules!

If you want critique then you can ask the mods to move it to the critique section...hope this helps

I really didn't want to critique the images, it was a knee jerk reaction from a couple other posters.

As they stand, they really are great shots, I just added my two cents...
