Default sackcloth and ashes for me today

Well, I really can't complain......I had most of the summer to play with my friend's 105mm macro lens. He managed to save enough to get himself a Nikon d90 and now he is off to college again......so it was time to cough up the lens..... Now I have to figure out how to turn out decent pictures with my crappy kit lenses. What a step backwards! Well, I have posted the last pictures with this lens taken in the familiar field near my workplace at none other than on my lunch break........ok I am a creature of habit! The eyes on the grasshopper were cool in how they rolled up to look at me while it was nearly upside down on the flower. Hope you enjoy!

The grasshopper had me laughing. The third shot it tremendous, one of the better flower shots I've seen in a while. All of these are great, but I love the third.

Well Patrick, It's just time to bit the bullet and go out and buy that Macro Lens!!!!
I'm sure You'll do fine with your kit lenses though. Try picking up a used lens or perhaps a extension tube set you can use with your kit lens for macros.
Your set today is fantastic, I like the grasshopper and I agree with Fred on the 3rd shot, I like the composition and the dof.
Thanks for Sharing these
Michael.

outstanding grasshopper !! love the colors in the flower shots .. the purple and the deep green work so well together and the last one is warm and soft has a great feel ..

Nice set Patrick, I'm sure you'll manage with your kit lense.. served you well in the past.. if you keep thinking about it, just go get a macro lense when you can, thinking about it too much means it's time to upgrade

thanks for sharing them,,

Vin

What kind of friend is it who won't give up his college years so you can keep taking photos like this? That's not right! The grasshopper with his buggy eyes is just great! I love the thistle as well. The detail is just superb!

Easier said than done when your Ac goes out and your daughter needs a car and to go to college etc.

Oh no you had to part with it. Well, you left a lovely parting present from it. These are gorgeous Patrick. I love the first one and the colour and detail in the others are amazing. Sorry you had to part with it buddy but I'm sure you will come up with some great shots with the kit lens. Nice work Patrick.

Dave.
