Default Kingdom Come State Park

After perusing through an old mining town, Michael and I went to Kingdom Come State Park which was no further than 5-10 miles from Lynch. Making the drive up to the top of Pine Mountain at 2800 feet yielded a beautiful view. We then took a 1/2 mile hike out to the bald face of Raven's Rock which is part of the mountain where the large stone slab lays on a 45 degree angle to the sky. On the way back to the car, we ran into a gaggle of 7-8 wild turkeys.....I was fortunate to catch one step out of the brush........Heading back to civilization! Hope you enjoyed the trip to the Cumberland Mountains in Southeastern Kentucky.

The Cumberland Mountains from Creech's Overlook on top of Pine Mountain......Black Mountain, the tallest mountain in the area is around 4000 feet. It's about 10 miles from this park.....unfortunately, we did not make it there

Really cool pictures Patrick. Very nice landscapes and I love the turkey. I was actually in the Cumberland Mountains when I was a small boy. We won't go into how long ag that was. I remember skinny dipping in a river... Wish I could remember which one. Nice pictures Patrick.

It is always interesting to me how these threads pull information out of people. threads from San Jose, Monterey, Seattle, Chattanooga etc always generate interest because of my being in those places at one time or another. Thanks for looking.....never been skinny dipping....bet it feels good!

FYI, the cumberlands are part of the greater Appalachian chain......including the Blue ridge and the Smokies. Mountains as far as you can see....very beautiful scenery
