Took this shot the other day
![]() I really like the pose it provided.. but noon-day sun was just blasting the heck out of it and I didn't get as sharp a focus as I would have liked. A few months ago and I would have binned this in frustration over washed out details and decided to practice processing on it. ![]() I am working on speeding up my workflow and trying to become more proficent, it's not a great photo by any means.. but I share whatever I'm currently working on and on this one I just tried to do a few steps to salvage something... similar to what I did with the Previous post and the Tern with the Fish.. I am not sure which species of waterfowl it is,, but it's almost black in the direct sun..I was surprized at the details I was able to pull out of the shot. I know this could be moved to " before and after " or " How I did it " .. but I hangout here in SYS.. and am really just sharing some of my study ![]() thanks for taking a look Vin thanks for lookin Vin

hey Vin! Saw this on your flickr stream and my immediate thought was, how the heck does he capture them in such unique poses! This one is wonderful. You have excellent timing.

Kudos for trying your hand at salvaging...I suck at it and they end up in the trash anyways most of the time. Most of mine look a lot worse after I start messing with them...so then, I have a temper tantrum and do a wildly uncontrolled photoshop destructive process with the pic before mercifully sending it off to virtual Hades

That's a Great Pose Vin! We're here to share our knowledge and experiences as well. I think you did a good job on the post processing and recovering details.
Thanks for Sharing These Michael

Vin, I'm glad you took on this renovation project, or else I wouldn't have been able to see this bird. We can't always get out in the perfect light and sometimes we gotta take what we can get. Thanks for salvaging this shot
