Default A few more from my recent model shoot

I posted a few days ago about my first Model Mayhem model shoot, I'm really excited about some of the pictures I got and wanted to share a few more with you.

Again I was mostly practicing in the direct sun using flash too, however the first one has no flash at all, just direct sunlight.

This one is lit by the sun behind the model, flash to the front.

This is just flash only, no sun

Too new to know whether or not comments on the model itself is faux pas, but aside from that, the lighting here is really excellent. Very different between the 2nd and 3rd photos, for example, but both have the kind of dynamism that really makes a person stand out as a person, not a two dimensional simulacrum.

I like that first shot where your model is NOT looking at the camera. all are very good and I can see why you would be excited about them

Sarah, these are wonderful. It looks like you had a really successful shoot. I really like the first one.

When you say flash, do you mean on camera or off?

I should say off camera flash, SB-25 speedlight with a 6"X8" homemade softbox. I made a very small one because it is so windy all the time here and I can't use large ones or umbrella's or my stands will fall over, I did have an assistant holding it this time, but usually I'm by myself with a stand and I end up having to use bare flash which I hate.

Thank you to everyone else for all your nice comments. I'm pretty happy with them yes, and I have a senior portrait shoot tomorrow so I'm excited to try this method again with her.

See my flickr link for more, most of them have the strobist info on them too.

I don't think it's faux pas to comment on the model. I think she is just beautiful and for only being 17 she did a great job modeling. It's something she is wanting to get into so I did these so she would have some for her portfolio.
