Default Saturday afternoon at the Arboretum

I went to the Mercer Arboretum here in Houston, Texas yesterday. It was actually too hot to be there as I soon found out as sweat in the eyes caused problems with focusing, but I still got some I liked---

This little butterfly wasn't much bigger than a quarter. I so have to get a macro lens---

Tiny Butterfly

This ginger plant bloom was one of the prettiest things there, especially with the sun shining thru the leaf onto it---

With the sun shining thru

And this caladium leaf had this drop of water right in the center acting as a magnifying glass--

These steps seemed to go to nowhere as they were blocked off from foot traffic. I really like this shot and I'm not even sure why--

Up the hill

I hope you enjoy these. Comments are always appreciated.

Nice shots. The third one is brilliant. Love the colors of the leaf and the droplet.

Woah great set love the colours in all of these flowers but I think the one with the drop in the centre wins my fave of the set.

They are all beautiful, but I do have to agree that third one takes the cake.

All are nice shots, but for me I prefer the second.

Macro lens or not - you have successfully captured the beauty of the butterfly with what you had .. very very nice

Nice shots. I also like the one with a drop of water in the middle. Is Arboretum a botanical garden?

Thank you all so much for your nice words. They mean so much to me. I am finding myself way too addicted to this hobby (must be if I'm going out into Houston's summer heat to look for shots).

Rick, you were right. An arboretum is a botanical garden. I can't wait to go back to it in the spring or when it's cooler. Thanks again.

The stair shot is very well balanced and the composition is strong. The diagonal line leads the eye. At least that's why I like it!
