Default Spotted Today

I saw this guy sitting and looking around for his dinner. The setting sun was directly behind him and I had no way to correct the angle to get some shots. I totally ignored the metering of the camera and shot many shots of this guy mainly just guessing at the exposure. I ended up with a lot of good shots. One thing about these photos is that I uploaded to flickr differently than my normal way and for the first time I understand what others have said, in that they don't look as good as the originals. Only thing different is the way I uploaded these, may reload them tomorrow with my normal upload to see if there is a difference. Anyway, here is the American Kestrel in all his glory.

American Kestrel 5

American Kestrel 4

American Kestrel 1

Wow, Wow, Wow....Love the exposure you have on him, you did an excellent job. The white background really makes him stand out. High key photography for wildlife, could catch on.

Fred this is a Beautiful Set! What an Amazing Bird! Great markings and your captures are so Well focused. I wish we had birds like this here in Korea, but I've not found anything close.
I was up in the mountains a few weeks ago and saw some eagles from way to far away. I want to get back and see if I can get a little closer.
Very nice post Fred
Thanks for sharing these
Michael.

Thanks teedlepeep, these shots worked out pretty good.

Thanks eaglesfan, the background is a result of having the sun directly behind the bird and getting very lucky in getting the correct exposure.

Thank you very much, I hadn't thought about the high key factor but maybe I need to try some more of this.

Thanks Michael, I figure this was all luck but I am starting to make my own luck as a lot of these shots worked out very well. Good luck on finding the eagles, please share when you have them.

Thanks toyville, I saw this guy and just had to try something to get some shots as this is the first one I've seen here. There was just too much jungle to let me move and take them on a different angle.

Thanks KR, a little luck, lots of shots and a cooperative raptor made the day for me.
