Default Photos Selected for Los Angeles County Fair Exhibit

I'm really pumped. I just got an email notifying me that two of my three photos entered in the L.A. County Fair juried photography competition have been selected. I'd almost forgotten about the entries I sent to this county fair. The theme for this juried competition is: “Recycled: Fashion, Food, and Lifestyle in Advertising Photography”. Basically, getting selected for exhibition means I've won something -- not sure what but I'm really elated and don't particularly care. I'm just glad to be accepted for exhibition.

They did entries online and today I got an email notifying me that my entries had been selected and that I have to send them the original uncompressed files. They will do the printing and framing (which are part of the prize). The fair runs from Sept. 5 to Oct. 4. Here are the two selected entries:

A big heart felt congrats! Do you get to keep the framed work? You know, if you do not have room in your house, I have an empty wall...

Thanks Pat. Yes, after the exhibit they will be shipping me the photos from the exhibit. That's part of my prize. And I have to admit that wall space is becoming a premium in my home.

I just thrilled that my work was even picked for exhibition. The L.A. County Fair is tough and I feel very humbled but honored.

Thanks eaglesfan and teedlepeep. It is hard as an amatuer/hobbist to be thought of as a serious artist. This is great recognition.

I also found out that the judges were from the Millard Sheets Center for the Arts, which owns the exhibition hall at the county fair and is a major promoter of the arts in L.A. County. They are also affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution network.

I was sort of blown away reading about the center and now feel really honored that my shots were chose. In addition, I found out that entries to the competition were open to photographers from all over the world. YIKES!

I think buoyant is the operative word for today. WOW! Now I'm waiting to see how I did in the San Mateo County Fair competition.
