Default 15th annual Mihsihkinaahkwa pow wow

I went to the 15th annual MIHSIHKINAAHKWA pow wow today..what a day...it rained and was so hot and humid i about melted to bits...but i managed to get these photos of the dancers. It was announced that their clothing is called Regalia. I know that last time i posted pow wow photos we had quite a discusion on what to call their clothing ie costumes..outfits..etc.

I've been reading about this Pow Wow (that i can't pronounce lol) on the net because as you know I am planning to visit next year. Your photographs are so good and so colourful. It must be such a popular event. I cant wait to see the Pow Wow for myself. Hey I may even end up in one of those costumes myself and end up on DPS next year lol. Thank you for sharing your lovely part of the world Lorraine. Your posts are like my tourist guide.

Your Bessie

I love the fact that we can see other places and cultures from the members on dps and learn about their homeland...as well as the photographic aspect . I had a really great time at the pow wow despite the heat and humidity, Im glad i could show you another part of Indiana.

Well at least you didn't have to dress up in Regalia Bessie to enjoy this wonderfully colorful event. Great photography, so clear, I always go to pieces in situations like these and blur everything.

Really good shots. I like the first one...I live in the state whose Native American population is second only to Oklahoma and I've never been to a pow wow. Hopefully I'll be able to change that in the next year.

Thankyou Michele...believe me i was fighting the rain trying to change lens without getting water into the camera....then the sun finally came out and the humidity which was nearly unbearable...i really felt for the dancers.

Hi Leona...you really need to make it to the next one...we got to eat buffalo burgers and listen the the beat of the music and they invite you to join in the last dance. Also it was really touching to see people go into the circle to shake hands and thank the war veterans. All in all it was a great day.

Default pow wow

The colors are vivid and the DoF of each portrait was perfect to let the subject stand out. Nice set here, Lorraine, if I may address you angeleyes.

We should always bring our gears on occassions like this. And you have a nice set of photos here. I wish I could also take shots of some ouf our indigenous people here in the Philippines.
